2009 Redwood City Rotary Club Car Raffle FAQ's

When is the drawing?

The raffle ticket drawing is Wednesday, July 4, 2009, at 4:00 PM during the annual 4th of July Redwood City Parade. How do I purchase tickets?

Do I need to be present to win?

Do I need to be present to win?

No.

How will the winners be notified?

Winners will be notified by phone based on the contact information provided on the ticket.

Can I take cash instead of the car if I win the raffle?

Yes, you may choose $18,000 or a brand new Toyota Prius as the prize, if you are the winner.

What about taxes?

The winner pays Federal and State income taxes based on the value of the car.

Is the cost of the Toyota Prius covered by the raffle earnings?

Actually, the Rotary Club of Redwood City is underwriting the raffle ticket event. Their members raised the money to purchase a new 2009 Toyota Prius from a local dealership, to then raffle in support of local non-profits. We are so grateful to the many years of support from the Redwood City Rotary Club.

Can I pick the color of the Prius that I would like?

Yes, The winner picks the color!

Is the cost of the raffle ticket tax deductible?

No, the IRS does not allow raffle tickets to be a tax deductible contribution.

How many raffle tickets can I buy?

You may buy as many tickets as you want!

Is Family Connections the only non-profit benefiting from this raffle?

The Rotary Club picked 10 top local non-profits to participate in the raffle. Family Connections is honored to be participating.

What are my odds of winning?

The Rotary Club hopes to sell about 20,000 raffle tickets. In other words, the odds are approximately 1 in 20,000 for any given raffle ticket to be the winner!

How much money does Family Connections hope to make from the raffle?

Family Connections hopes to sell 3,000 raffle tickets to raise $15,000! We have exceeded $9,000 each year in the 6 years that we have participated, and we would like to make this fundraiser even more successful. 100% of the proceeds from the tickets we sell go to Family Connections. This is a wonderful fund raising opportunity for us.

How is Family Connections selling tickets?

Many of the Family Connections raffle ticket sales will be done via email to save on postage. Although, please know we are perfectly willing to spend 42 cents to make $5.00. In general, raffle ticket requests will be sent directly to P.O Box 358, San Carlos, CA, and we will either email the raffle ticket stub number(s) or mail the hard copy of the raffle ticket stub(s) to the purchaser. You can download the flyer from our website (www.familyconnections.org).

How do I get tickets to sell if I can't or don't want to sell via email?

If you want a bunch of hardcopy raffle tickets to sell, don't be shy. Any way we can maximize sales, we will do (within reason, or the law, of course).

How else can I help sell tickets?

Print the order form and post at your school, spouse's office, church, local store, community bulletin boards, front door, etc.
